Fue uno de los primero miembros de Greenpeace e hizo muchas acciones con ellos en contra de la caza de la fauna marina. Pero en 1977 es expulsado y ese mismo a\u00f1o funda Sea Shepherd. A parte de ser el co-fundador de Greenpeace y el fundador de Sea Shepherd, Watson tambi\u00e9n fue el Corresponsal de Campo de Defenders of de Wildlife, una organizaci\u00f3n cuya\u00a0misi\u00f3n es proteger a todos los animales y plantas nativas de Am\u00e9rica del Norte en sus comunidades naturales, y de otras muchas organizaciones como Fund of Animals o Friends of the Wolfs.<\/p>\n<p>Debido a su actividad, Watson ha tenido siempre una relaci\u00f3n complicada con la Justicia:<\/p>\n<p>En 1993 fue detenido en Canad\u00e1 acusado de diversos cargos por acciones contra Cuba. En 1997 fue declarado en rebeld\u00eda por un tribunal de Noruega por intentar hundir la flota de buques de pesca del pa\u00eds.\u00a0En abril de 2008, tres ecologistas de <i>Sea Shepherd<\/i> perdieron la vida en un enfrentamiento con la Guardia Costera Canadiense.
